I can usually do these pretty easily however this one was a problem. With the first response, row 9, col 7 must be a 7 not a pivot. As far as the w wings from the 46's in box 7, I don't see them elimi ...

Got the x-wing on 3 followed by a type 1 UR on 48 in b47 for a 2-stepper.
I need help replicating the above. Here's my grid after basics and two X-Wings (3) and I can't make that UR turn into a Type ...

There are three 157 xy-wings; any one is a single stepper. There is also a type 1 UR on 38, but it still needs the help of a 157 xy-wing to solve. As for the 139 xy-wing, I can't find the necessary 13 ...

139 XY does it, too.

For me todays puzzle (July 8) labelled as hard was more difficult than many of the VH:s with simple xy-wings. Has anybody another opinion?

the "5" is not eliminated, but rather the "9" is chosen...

First, the "3"s in r3c1 and r3c3 must be ...

I needed two wings also, but I used the 258 XY wing as my second.

After the X wing 2, the w wing 23 in boxes 3 and 8, with the strong link on 2 in c7 eliminates the 3 in r9c8....leaving only the 6 in that position.

You may very well be correct. However, I'll offer some free advice (worth what you paid for it) based on personal experience. When you solve a puzzle with basics and no one else confirms it, ...

Unless I made a mistake, this Mothers' Day puzzle can be solved with just basics.

UR 27, XYZ 259, AUR 29 to eliminate the 1 in R1C9 which solves the puzzle.
