All I needed was the 46-5 xy wing. It eliminates 4 from r8c3 making r1c1 6.

When I placed the 3 in r4c8 the puzzle went from "very hard" to "medium". Did I miss something?

2 different wings with the same pivot. Eliminations are r8c4 and r7c2.

Marty I think your pivot is r2c9. There is another that pivots at r1c8.

Actually, I did have it. Just for kicks I pushed the "Grade" button and it's response was "Too Hard", hence my last post. I started over, when I filled in after the 8 x-wing in c68 ...

When I try to use what looks like a perfectly good x-wing on 8 in c67 the puzzle goes bust. Could someone help me out here?

Believe it or not I couldn't find the xy wing. So I used a... skyscraper? r8c7 or r9c6 must be 3 therefore r8c4=4.

I did this 3 times using basics only. Can someone point out the error of my ways?

Lee, you can eliminate all the 5's in box 1 column 2 which sets r3c6 to 5 solving the puzzle.

I just got to this one and found an xy wing with pivot at r4c6 that solves it.

No, I just made the same mistake twice in a row.

Actually I had the 46 UR Lead to an x-wing on 3 in boxes 1 and 7 that solved it.

I spotted the 146 triple after I found the 146 xy wing pivoted in r8c7 which also solves it.

Is that a BUG+1 with the 7's in boxes 1,4 &5? It would be my first.

Also the same xy wing pivoted at r2c3.
