I used the XY-Wing 27-3 pivoted in R5C9. That appeared to get me to the end.

I saw the x-wing, 7s in r14c58, instead and think that does it too.

I had a 159 XY-Wing pivoted at R2C1, setting R3C1 <>5 and solving it.

I'm getting to this a little late today, and used 2 x-wings, the last eliminating the 7 at R1C5, which set up the 248 xyz.

I had slightly different basics and found an xyz wing on 126 in boxes 2 and 3. That did it for me.

I would be interested in how others feel. When I check the Daily Sudoku and see that it is "easy" I feel somewhat let down and I usually do not bother with it. For those that are "har ...

Keith,

I did not see the X wing and resorted to all sorts of other stuff. It's clear to me now.

Thanks.

Hey Craig,
I'm feeling a little defensive in that I used the 156 XYZ wing to get to Norm's post, and I feel pretty good about XYs and X wings. I guess I just couldn't see the X wing others mention a ...

Interesting comments here so I thought I would add mine. I don't understand the nomenclature (yet) so went at it this way:

I got to Norm's post pretty quickly. Looking at r3c8, making it 2 gives ...

I did the basics and then went through my normal approaches for a VH. Finally, I had to resort to looking for XYZ wings, and found the 127. Nothing else worked for me. A good one.

I am responding to the post by kragzy. I found the UR route but was intrigued by your comment about the x-wing. I too found the x-wing (rows 2 & 6) and surprisingly it solved it for me. I am a ...

I did the wing thing on this one successfully. From an efficiency standpoint it appears that the xy-chain is quite a bit better. I usually look for xy-chains after getting frustrated trying to find ...

PostForum: Daily Sudoku puzzles   Posted: Tue Mar 04, 2008 3:00 am   Subject: Where's the w-wing?
I am pretty new to this forum. I saw the xy-wing for rows 1,8,9 and cols 2,3 which eliminated the 3 in r2c2. With a previous x-wing I think, that did it for me. Like KSipher I missed the w-wing and ...
