It stands for Singles To The End, which as I understand it, means the rest is basics with the exception of Locked Candidates. So that means the puzzle can be solved with pairs triples, quads, etc.

If it needed the singles techniques noted above plus Locked Candidates, it would say lcstte. Lots of people use that after their solution. Some people place a degree of importance on it, me personally I don't pay attention to it.

				| stte or ste means singles to the end. Not doubles triples etc.
lclste means locked candidates (pointing and claiming) and locked sets (doubles triples etc.) to the end

it is a signal that the step shown breaks or solves the puzzle and there are no other advanced moves needed.

 Hope this helps.

				| I agree with Dan, singles, i.e., hidden singles generally. My post was based on the fact that in my personal solving methods I don't spot hidden singles very well, rather I use pairs and triples that are easier to spot. But that doesn't alter the fact that the singles were present. | |
