				Danny,

Not having a rating for this puzzle added to the fun. I did not realize how the rating has influenced my approach to solving your puzzles.

Here is my assortment of fun steps.........

 	  | Quote: | Type 1 UR15 r13c36; r1c6=3

ANP(18=4)r9c89-r8c9=r8c4-(4=1)r7c6; r7c7,r9c6<>1

Type 1 UR18 r19c89; r1c9=7

Remote Pairs 49 r8c4 =>r6c7; r6c4<>4

w-wing 37 r4c8 & r6c4 strong link 3 r46c1; r4c5<>7 |

I suspect that one or two are not necessary.

				| I'm not proud of my solution. First I played the Type 1 UR on 15, then I looked at the implications of the potential Type 6 UR on 17 and discovered that r2c4=2 solved the puzzle. |

Marty,

Enjoying your solution does not necessarily mean that you are proud of it; but fun is still fun!

Besides, your solution is clearly shorter and cleaner that the one I posted..............

Marty: Given my solver's solution, your solution turns out to be a wise choice.

 	  | Code: | 	 		   r13c36  <15> UR Type 1.2223             r1c6<>15

 <69+4>  XYZ-Wing r7c4/r7c3+r8c4         <> 4    r7c6

 r19c89  <18> UR Type 1.2223             r1c9<>18

 r12c49  <17> UR Type 1.1112  ***        r2c4<>7

 |

Here is the grid before the final URs:

 	  | Code: | 	 		   *-----------------------------------------------------------*

 | 4     9     5     | 17    6     3     | 2     18    178   |

 | 6     8     3     | 127   27    9     | 5     4     17    |

 | 2     7     1     | 8     4     5     | 6     9     3     |

 |-------------------+-------------------+-------------------|

 | 39    246   8     | 5     27    24    | 1     37    469   |

 | 1     24    47    | 2347  9     6     | 8     37    5     |

 | 39    5     467   | 347   1     8     | 49    2     469   |

 |-------------------+-------------------+-------------------|

 | 7     3     46    | 469   8     1     | 49    5     2     |

 | 8     1     2     | 49    5     7     | 3     6     49    |

 | 5     46    9     | 246   3     24    | 7     18    18    |

 *-----------------------------------------------------------*

 |

The <18> UR says that r1c9=7 must occur.

The <17> UR says that r1c9=8 and/or r2c4=2 must occur.

Combining the two UR constraints leads to r1c9=7 and r2c4=2.

We won't even consider the <46> DP pattern in bands 2 & 3 !!!

Well, mine wasn't so wise. My grid didn't have the 18 UR as a Type 1, so I wasn't able to make the conclusion about r1c9. Mine felt too much like T&E. |
